Autumn Golds

The response to my paintings in the ‘Abstract Expression 2020’ gallery has been more positive than I would have imagined and this collection of paintings are selling equally well as the more traditional style paintings. There have been requests for me to add more paintings in this style so I will do as bid!
I have enjoyed recent splurges of creating images using a palette knife, there is something therapeutic about laying blobs of colour and layering applications without knowing how they will develop. One painting I particularly enjoyed painting was ‘Autumn Golds’ which has been included in the ‘Freedom 2020’ portfolio. I had no reference or plans for this particular painting other than the colours I wanted to portray. The landscape itself is from my imagination. The colours were inspired by the trees that lined the motorway I drove down mid-October. I wanted to savour the hues that I admired and I kept this in my mind as I applied my palette to the canvas.
However, I cannot deny that there will always be the need for me to retreat into the more traditional style of painting, I cannot help but always look to the sky with the urge to portray the drama that occurs in the clouds. I haven’t achieved it yet but I will keep practising!
