Being Brave!

Being Brave!

I’m being rather brave in sharing this latest painting with you. It is somewhat radical for me!

The intention was simply to practise painting loosely, to create without caring about details or portraying realism but still, it is not necessarily an abstract piece. In my layman’s understanding, I would say that there is a lack of shape or form that would make an abstract piece of art so this is. .. I don’t know! Semi-abstract expressionism maybe?

I wanted to experiment with bold, bright primary colours, painted without blending using a palette knife and an old frayed brush. It is therefore quite a naive piece because there is evidently less intention behind the image other than to just create.

When I see this finished piece ‘Adrenaline’, I feel a mixture of embarrassment and humour, hence I am being brave showing it here! But, it is an honest expression. It may look like a representation of a menopausal flush but it can be interpreted however people choose, but speaking as the artist behind the image it is expression laid bare.
