Lockdown 2020 - Abstract Expressions
The coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and the subsequent lockdown has given us all time for reflection.
The human response to the crises has inspired a series of abstract paintings representing the various shared emotions that have carried us through times of difficulty.
We recognise that life is strengthened by the appreciation and recognition of a universal spirit.
Caution
As hunted and endangered animals, Deer are resourceful, intelligent creatures that come across a gentle despite their strong survival instinct. It was credible to include them in this abstract expression series because we have had to adapt to our changing environment in much the same way. We have had to retreat whilst remaining cautious, very much like this deer who has remained within the shelter of nearby trees, ready to run and hide if necessary.
Again, a limited pallet has been used to depict this expression of caution. Whilst the beauty of the animal has not been depicted within a more realistic expression, the nature of the animal is evident and is the main feature in this painting that has been rendered in thick applications of acrylic paint using a pallet knife.
